  • Account Information: Name, email address, academic semester, optional phone number, and hashed password when creating an account or signing in via Google.
  • Voluntary Contributions: Details provided when submitting study notes, solutions, or inquiries via our contact and contribution forms.
  • Device & Technical Logs: Standard request metadata (IP address, browser type) and Firebase push notification tokens for mobile alerts.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use collected data strictly for legitimate educational and platform operational goals:

  • Delivering verified semester notes, TU syllabi, exam schedules, and past question papers.
  • Authenticating user sessions securely via JWT tokens and verifying email ownership using OTP verification.
  • Processing community note contributions and displaying credit to student contributors.
  • Sending optional push alerts for new notices, exam routines, or study materials via Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM).
  • Protecting platform infrastructure against DDoS attacks, abuse, or unauthorized access via rate limiting and security firewalls.

3. Cookies, Local Storage & Analytics

We use essential session cookies, local preferences, and standard web analytics to secure sessions and improve site performance:

  • Session Cookies: Secure HTTP-only authentication cookies to maintain your signed-in state.

All data transmitted between your device and CSIT Notes Hub is encrypted using Industry Standard TLS/HTTPS protocols. Passwords are salted and hashed using bcrypt before database storage. We implement strict rate limiting on authentication and OTP endpoints to prevent unauthorized access.
